Vulgum pecus

Coming from Latin, Vulgum Pecus defines common ignorance. These words are also used to define what is seen as the common man.

-Larousse dictionary

For VULGAIRE's launch, it was important to establish a theme linking the title and the project's purpose. Vulgum pecus refers to vulgarity, and in today's age, this word refers to something that is tasteless and hyper-sexualized. However, vulgum pecus means ignorance, so is it fair to say that something qualified as "vulgar" is only a way to share one's ignorance?

When a person makes a derogatory judgment about someone who expresses a state of mind, it is a tactless way of demonstrating an inability to open one's mind. If this idea is supported, vulgarity (or vulgum pecus) is simply, closed-minded ignorance.

It is in the context of this reflection that the inspiration came for the photoshoot.
